Kazakh Skier Participates in Marathon in Switzerlan

Skier Duman Beysenaev from Karkaralinsk represented Kazakhstan at the Engadin Ski Marathon in Switzerland. This prestigious event attracted approximately 14,000 participants from around the world. Duman secured the 700th position in the main 42-kilometer race, finishing in 2 hours and 2 minutes, improving his previous year’s result by 8 minutes.
During the race, at the 12th kilometer, he encountered a pile-up on one of the descents, resulting in a twisted ankle. Despite this, he continued and achieved a commendable result. Additionally, in the 17-kilometer night race, Duman finished 21st among 2,000 participants, marking one of his best performances.
According to Duman, participating in international marathons requires special preparation of skis. In some countries, the use of fluorinated waxes is prohibited due to their negative environmental impact, leading to mandatory equipment testing. Duman successfully passed this inspection. He has participated in 12 international marathons, including events in Finland, Estonia, and Uzbekistan.
