Erbol Myrzabosynov Meets with Olympic Hopefuls Ahead of Milan 2026

Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erbol Myrzabosynov, met with members of the national team preparing for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, to be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
The meeting was attended by speed skater Yevgeny Koshkin and head coach Alexander Panfilov, as well as freestyle moguls skier Anastassiya Gorodko and her coach Elena Kruglykhina.
Discussions focused on key issues related to Olympic preparation, including training organization, team selection criteria, and future plans. The minister emphasized that a comprehensive support plan for Olympic candidates is already in place.
“It’s not just about training camps. Each athlete follows an individualized schedule that includes recovery protocols, medical and psychological support, expert guidance, and methodological assistance,” noted Myrzabosynov.
He also highlighted the significance of the recently adopted Law “On Physical Culture and Sports,” which aims to elevate the status of athletes and coaches, promote mass sports, and enhance governance in the sector.
Special attention was given to modernizing sports infrastructure. According to the minister, training facilities are being equipped to meet international standards, ensuring safe and comfortable conditions for national teams.
The athletes’ recent achievements were highly praised. In the 2024/2025 season, Yevgeny Koshkin won silver at the 9th Winter Asian Games in Harbin and secured two World Cup wins in the 500m. Anastassiya Gorodko became a World Junior Champion, a Universiade winner, a World Championship bronze medalist, and a multiple World Cup podium finisher.
In conclusion, Myrzabosynov underscored that the ultimate goal is a successful performance at the Milan Olympics.
