Kazakh Fighter Diyar Nurgozhay Misses Weight Ahead of UFC Debut

Kazakhstani mixed martial artist Diyar Nurgozhay (10-0) failed to make weight ahead of his UFC debut. During the official weigh-in, he registered 95.48 kg, exceeding the weight limit by 2.3 kg. His opponent, Brazilian fighter Brendson Ribeiro (16-7), successfully made weight at 92.98 kg.

Despite the weight miss, the fight may still proceed if Ribeiro agrees to compete. In that case, Nurgozhay will be required to forfeit a portion of his purse as a penalty. The Kazakh fighter remains undefeated in the light heavyweight division with 10 victories. Last year, he secured a UFC contract after winning a bout in Dana White’s Contender Series.

The Nurgozhay vs. Ribeiro fight is scheduled for March 15 in Las Vegas as part of the UFC Vegas 104 event. The final decision on whether the fight takes place will depend on the opponent’s agreement and UFC officials.
